Jehoshaphat King of Judah
1. And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2. And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

3. And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
3. "L`Éternel fut avec Josaphat, parce qu`il marcha dans les premières voies de David, son père, et qu`il ne rechercha point les Baals;"

4. But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
4. car il eut recours au Dieu de son père, et il suivit ses commandements, sans imiter ce que faisait Israël.
4. Fa Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny rainy, kosa no notadiaviny, ary araka ny didiny no nalehany, fa tsy mba araka ny fanaon' ny Isiraely.
5. Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
5. L`Éternel affermit la royauté entre les mains de Josaphat, à qui tout Juda apportait des présents, et qui eut en abondance des richesses et de la gloire.

6. And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
6. Son coeur grandit dans les voies de l`Éternel, et il fit encore disparaître de Juda les hauts lieux et les idoles.

7. Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
7. La troisième année de son règne, il chargea ses chefs Ben Haïl, Abdias, Zacharie, Nethaneel et Michée, d`aller enseigner dans les villes de Juda.

8. And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.

9. And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

10. And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
10. La terreur de l`Éternel s`empara de tous les royaumes des pays qui environnaient Juda, et ils ne firent point la guerre à Josaphat.
10. Ary ny tahotra an' i Jehovah nahazo ny fanjakana rehetra tamin' ny tany manodidina an' i Joda, ka dia tsy nisy niady tamin' i Josafata ireo.
11. Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
11. "Des Philistins apportèrent à Josaphat des présents et un tribut en argent; et les Arabes lui amenèrent aussi du bétail, sept mille sept cents béliers et sept mille sept cents boucs."
11. "Ary koa ny Filistina sasany nitondra fanomezana sy volafotsy ho hetra ho an' i Josafata ; ary ny arabo dia nitondra ho azy ondry aman' osy, dia ondrilahy fitonjato amby fito arivo sy osilahy fitonjato amby fito arivo."
12. And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
12. Josaphat s`élevait au plus haut degré de grandeur. Il bâtit en Juda des châteaux et des villes pour servir de magasins.

13. And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.

14. And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
14. "Voici leur dénombrement, selon les maisons de leurs pères. De Juda, chefs de milliers: Adna, le chef, avec trois cent mille vaillants hommes;"

15. And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
15. "et à ses côtés, Jochanan, le chef, avec deux cent quatre-vingt mille hommes;"

16. And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
16. et à ses côtés, Amasia, fils de Zicri, qui s`était volontairement consacré à l`Éternel, avec deux cent mille vaillants hommes.
16. "Ary manarakaraka azy dia Amasia, zanak' i Zikry, izay nanolotena an-tsitrapo ho an' i Jehovah; ary ny miaraka aminy dia lehilahy matanjaka sy be herim-po roa hetsy."
17. And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
17. De Benjamin: Éliada, vaillant homme, avec deux cent mille hommes armés de l`arc et du bouclier,
17. Ary tamin' ny Benjamina dia Eliada, lehilahy matanjaka sy be herim-po, ary ny miaraka aminy dia lehilahy roa hetsy mpiady mitondra tsipìka sy ampinga.
18. And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
18. et à ses côtés, Zozabad, avec cent quatre-vingt mille hommes armés pour la guerre.

19. These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
19. Tels sont ceux qui étaient au service du roi, outre ceux que le roi avait placés dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda.
